We want you to know we’re doing everything we can to help our guests stay safe by cleaning and disinfecting the Villa, and most especially, all frequently touched surfaces such as light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc. before you check in, for your peace of mind. LOCATION
Our neighbourhood consists of 7 homes on 5 acres of rain forest. The homes surround the jungle valley to preserve it, and to create privacy between the homes.
Our home is about half way between the town of Quepos and the Manuel Antonio National Park and beach area. We are a short walk to several restaurants, and an art gallery.
The walk from our home to the bus stop on the main road is 3 minutes. In one direction the bus takes about 10 minutes to get to the beach. In the other direction the bus takes about 10 minutes to get to town.
The bus costs less than $1 per person per direction and runs no less than every 20 minutes all day, (and more often during peak times), leaving town on the hour and the beach on the half hour.
You can also call for a taxi to pick you up at the house, or hail one on the main road. Plus there are plenty of taxis in town or at the beach if you want to get a ride back home.

Testimonials
Here are what past guests of Casa Copper had to say about their time at the villa. See plenty more reviews on our Airbnb listing: https://www.airbnb.ca/h/casa-copper
“We spent a week at Casa Copper and we loved it! You get lots of amenities for your money, including air conditioning in the bedroom, king bed, spacious shower, a full kitchen with blender, coffee maker and any dishes/utensils you’d need, and an amazing porch/outside space. There are 2 sitting areas and a pool which we used often. Jefferson was a great host, and even had binoculars and some reference guides so we could ID birds and other animals we saw while enjoying the space. The location is handy, too. We were close to the main road (2-3 min. walk) where we could walk or take the bus for less than $1 each towards the beach. Even to go all the way to the beach and national park on the bus only took like 10-15 min. It’s about the same time to Quepos, if you wanted to go to more stores. We were traveling with just the 2 of us, but the couch also pulled out if you needed more space for people to sleep. I honestly can’t imagine a better “home base” to have during our stay, and would highly recommend Casa Copper! Thank you, Jefferson!”
“My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this beautifully appointed home in a private, picturesque jungle setting. The kitchen is very well equipped, and we appreciated use of the brand new modern laundry. The large covered terraza is a great place for viewing wildlife with our morning coffee and enjoying a glass of wine at night. The private pool has an ocean view and sunny deck. It’s a perfect place for relaxing and staying in, but conveniently located for getting out to see the sights as well – close to everything, and just steps to the bus stop. We had a car, so the private secure garage was a real bonus. We would highly recommend this wonderful haven, and would love to stay there again on our next trip to Manuel Antonio.”
“Nested minutes from both quepos and Manuel Antonio, casa copper was a luxurious private retreat. The beautiful architecture, friendly concierge service and convenient amenities gave us the comfort of home in a dreamlike oasis. This villa was an amazing sanctuary to enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica from your own backyard.”
“We have arrived at Casa Copper and it is beyond amazing! The pictures don’t do it justice. The fruit and flowers are so wonderful. I cannot put into words how grateful we are for this opportunity. ”
Manuel Antonio Beach, Costa Rica
“Casa Copper is a fantastic accommodation choice if you are planning a trip to the Manuel Antonio area. We found it was conveniently located with easy access to parks, beaches and nightlife. Upon arrival we were greeted by the concierge who gave us all the info we needed for our stay at Casa Copper and arranged several outings for sightseeing right on the spot! We secured our car in the garage and walked or caught the local bus which costs about $1.50 Canadian. With any luck you may even get serenaded by the driver as we did on one of our trips to town. The property is beautifully renovated with all the amenities of home. We loved that it is surrounded by nature, which allows you to enjoy the local birds and monkeys from the comfort of the outdoor living space. And of course having our own private pool was amazing. We have already recommended Casa Copper to several of our friends and hope to enjoy another stay there ourselves.”
FAQ
Which airport should I fly into Costa Rica for my Casa Copper vacation?
Fly into the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO).
How do I get from the San Jose airport (SJO) to Casa Copper?
1. You can fly. We fly with and highly recommend an airline called Sansa. The flight is 20 minutes in a small 12 seat propeller plane where the cockpit is open to the passenger area. The flight usually costs somewhere between $80 and $120 USD per person one way. You can book online at http://flysansa.com/en/#.WuKdSy8ZMUE or through your travel agent. During high season the flights sell out quickly so it is advisable to book well in advance. Once you arrive to the Quepos/Manuel Antonio airport (XQP) it is only a 15 minute drive to Casa Copper. Our Concierge can arrange to have a taxi pick you up for about $15 USD (plus tip).
2. You can take a taxi. Our Concierge can arrange airport pick up for around $180 USD (plus tip), in an air conditioned van and that includes transportation for 2 passengers. Then you have the freedom to relax and look at the scenery along the way. You can ask your driver to stop if you want to take some pics, grab a snack or drink, use the facilities, or buy a souvenir. There is a great stop along the way in Tarcoles called the Crocodile Bridge where you can look down far below at the many crocs that live on the shores of the river.
3. You can drive. We rent a car in San Jose, (booked in advance online) with National Car Rental or Enterprise Car Rental as they have an airport shuttle and the car hub is only 10 minutes away (car rental companies are not permitted to provide a car to a customer at the airport). For navigation, we use an app called WAZE (download it for your smart phone) and set Casa Copper, Manuel Antonio as your destination. You can also rent a GPS from the car company. The drive is 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic. There are tolls on the way so have some local money on you (colones). Toll booth operators provide change.
4. Take the bus. Although the local bus is only $8, but has no air conditioning and you have to take a $25 cab from the airport to the bus terminal, take the bus to Quepos, then take another bus (or $8 taxi) to Casa Copper. Interbus, the tourist bus line, is $65, has air conditioning, they pick you up at the airport, and can drop you off in Manuel Antonio at Hotel Villas Mymosa, only a 2 minute walk from Casa Copper. However, you have to change buses in San Jose and because they stop at so many hotels the trip is 6 hours.
What currency should I bring with me?
Bring US dollars, if you are able to also bring Costa Rica colones, that would be ideal, however, if you pay for something in USD you will get your change in colones so you will have some local currency in no time. Alternatively you can take your USD to a bank in Costa Rica to exchange them for colones. Canadian dollars are not accepted as payment or for exchange at the bank.
Any words of advice on taking taxis?
I always establish the price when I get into a taxi before the cab is moving. You can ask a local how much they think your drive would cost to have an idea and then assume that because you are a tourist it will be a bit more expensive for you and that is okay. Just don't get taken for a ride as they say. Pay at the end once you have arrived to your destination. Taxi drivers only accept cash in Manuel Antonio. If taking a cab from the San Jose airport, only take orange cabs. If taking a cab in Manuel Antonio and Quepos only use red cabs. The exception of course would be if our Concierge has arranged pick up for you because they might have sent a private driver for you. The driver would have your name and know your destination.
What about tips for staff?
For long distance drives, taxi drivers should be tipped a minimum of 10%. Short distance taxi drivers are not accustomed to being tipped (some try to give you the money back if you tip too much), so I usually give them an extra 1000 colones ($2 USD) above the´established fare we agreed upon. Wait staff at restaurants receive a mandatory 10% tip, it is included on your bill. It is customary for North Americans to tip an additional 5% to 10% for good service. Guides and Spa Services staff generally receive a 10% to 20% tip for good service. Please remember to tip Casa Copper Concierge and Cleaning teams. A tipping guideline can provided to you in advance by our Concierge Manager.
What are tours or activities are a must do for my Manuel Antonio vacation?
The top recommended “must do” while in Manuel Antonio is a visit to our famous Manuel Antonio National Park and right next to it Playa Espadilla (the beach). We highly recommend a Sunset Boat Tour that usually includes snorkeling, (there is also an LGBT group that organizes a weekly sunset boat tour through a company called Sunset Sails). The most popular activities and tours amongst our guests are: Ziplining, Whitewater Rafting, and Catamaran Tours. Additional activities and tours available include: Mangrove Boat Tour, ATV Tour, Sport Fishing, Parasailing, Snorkeling, Surfing, Jet Skiing, Hiking Tours and a Nauyaca Waterfall Tour.
Is Costa Rica safe for LGBTQ2S+ travelers?
Costa Rica is famous for being extremely LGBT friendly and Manuel Antonio is the only place outside of the capital of San Jose that has gay bars and a hotel. The point furthest north on the beach Playa Espadilla is the LGBT beach area should you wish to have the opportunity of meeting other LGBT travelers and locals. For more information on LGBT bars, attractions and events please visit: http://www.gaymanuelantonio.com
Can I drink the water?
Yes, Costa Rica is famous for being one of the few countries south of the US where North Americans can drink the water. In addition, we have recently purchased a new fridge (so recent it does not appear in the pictures) that has a filtered water and ice dispenser. Our hope is that you will not buy bottled water as these plastic bottles are endangering wild life, polluting our oceans and coast lines.
Is Casa Copper fully equipped? Do I need to bring my... ?
The house is fully equipped including: coffee maker, Nutri Bullet, blender, toaster, Nuwave infrared oven, Instant Pot, air fryer, coffee grinder, pots, pans, plates, drink ware, cutlery, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, hair dryer, bath towels, hand towel, face cloths, pool towels, beach towels, bedding, pillows.
Do you recommend purchasing a travel pack for my cell phone or taking an unlocked phone with me and purchasing a SIM card in Costa Rica?
We do both, we use Rogers "Roam Like Home" on one phone which allows us access to our Canadian based cell phone package while in Costa Rica and we take one unlocked cell phone with us and use a local SIM card with it. Cell phone service in Costa Rica is extremely affordable. We buy our pay as you go SIM card from Kolbi by ICE. For 9000 colones ($18 USD) you can have a couple of GBs to use over the course of one month. The only huge expense with a local SIM card is using it to call outside of Costa Rica. This quickly eats up the money you have put onto your phone to make calls. My solution to that is to make long distance calls using Skype, Whats App, or Face Time over the Wi-Fi at Casa Copper.
Any restaurants you recommend?
There is no shortage of amazing restaurants in Manuel Antonio, at the Marina, and in Quepos. Our favourites are: Cafe Milagro, Emilio's Cafe, Mono Azul, Runaway Grill, Gaia, El Avion.
What if I am concerned I may need to cancel my Casa Copper booking?
Our cancellation policy is below. If you have any questions regarding it, or would like to know how our policy may apply to your circumstances please feel to contact us directly.

If notice of cancellation is received more than 30 days prior to the reservation, the non-refundable deposit will be held for use within one (1) year from the date written notice was provided, for a future stay at the same property, subject to availability. Once the Final Payment is received, (30 days prior to the reservation), it is non-refundable.
Guests concerned about the potential of providing notice of cancellation of less than 30 days prior to the reservation are encouraged to purchase travel cancellation insurance through a travel agency.
The client accepts that there are occasional short-lived power and/or water outages, typical for Central America, and that Mukti Estates will not be responsible for any losses or damages due to these events, nor will these events warrant a refund.
Mukti Estates will not be responsible for any cancellations due to hurricanes, floods, severe tropical storms, or other "Acts of God" such as, but not limited to a “Warning Level 3, Avoid Non-Essential Travel” Health Notice by the CDC specifically affecting the Manuel Antonio area in Costa Rica. However, when such “Acts of God” circumstances require a cancellation, a full refund of the Final Payment will be provided, in advance of check-in. After check-in, a per-night, pro-rated refund of the Final Payment will be provided. The non-refundable deposit will be held for use within one (1) year, for the same property.
